The famous English writer, theater actor and director, William Shakespeare, wrote in his comedy “How You Like It”:
“The whole world is a stage and all men and women are just actors; they have their exits and their entrances.”
When you think about it a little bit, we all play different roles every day and wear different masks to better fit into the environment and meet different expectations in our relationships with people – whether it’s our private or business lives.
By itself, of course, that doesn’t mean anything bad. We could not function otherwise.
However, the problem arises when, at one point in our lives, we simply forget who is the one hiding behind all the masks and roles, what that person really wants in their heart and what they really think and feel!
In other words, over time we become so identified with our roles and masks that we forget where the boundary between us and our roles is clear.
For the sake of the test, think about the last time you spent only seven days in a row without being able to truly express what you really think and feel when interacting with the various people around you without having to play all sorts of roles that, basically , have nothing to do with you and come up with various diplomatic answers and expressions …
Of course, it is clear to me that this is an impossible mission given the current stage of development of the society in which we live. However, it is important that you, for your own sake, have a clear boundary between your original self in relation to the various roles you play and the masks you wear – otherwise life becomes very complicated and I dare say pointless.
At its core, you are not a caring father, a single mother, a role model student, a trusted lawyer, a resourceful accountant, a strict boss, a diligent employee, a loyal friend, a vegetarian, a torcid person, a member of a political party, etc. At your core, you are something completely different and the more you become more aware of yourself, you are able to gradually begin to choose the roles that, during the period of your life, are most supportive of who you are!
Then when we lose awareness of our original selves – our spiritual nature – our life ceases to be magical. We are constantly waiting for a change in external circumstances to begin living the way we feel deep in our heart that we should live. We are accompanied by a feeling … that life is something that is happening beside us, and we are constantly standing on the sidelines waiting for the fulfillment of various conditions that will serve as our “ticket” to the life we would like to live … as if joy and enthusiasm are constantly passing us by , and no way to enter and linger in our “world”.
It is time to start being honest with ourselves. LET ME KNOW YOURSELF! No one needs to be aware of your intention, but it is important that you begin to respect yourself and your true thoughts and feelings. Allow yourself to think and feel what you really think and feel as opposed to what you feel you should think and feel! This can sometimes be very painful and uncomfortable, but it is only by taking this approach to yourself that you create the right ground to meet with yourself – AND THAT’S SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL!
